The memorial site is located near the number of sites of particular significance to M.E. Nikolaev. The development of the surrounding area should be considered comprehensively as one unit. The pathway roundabout extending from the memorial complex could become an alley of education, leading to the Junior Academy of Sciences, established with the help of Mikhail Nikolaev.
The site is circular. The reasoning behind the choice of this shape - it symbolizes infinity and cyclicality, showing the memorial's purpose - to eternalise memory. Visitors go around the monument learning Mikhail Efimovich’s biography and achievements displayed on stands.
The main object of the site is a monument of two pillars. The monument itself embodies a strong spiritual core and a solid physical base, and the pillars form a gateway to a better future, opened to the people by the first president. The height of the monument complements the other objects on the site.
